Here is my favorite quotation.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was
the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had
everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were
all going direct the other way in short, the period was so far like the percent period, that
some of its noisiestauthorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the
superlative degree of comparison only.
This is from A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.
I was reading a book about Charles Dickens's life, and I found this beautiful quotation.
But I have never read A Tale of Two Cities before.
Dickens's book I have read is Great Expectations which is about the difference b/w
the upper class and the lower one in England. When I read it for the first time, I don`t know
how much I loved it. I would love to read A Tale of Two Cities, if I have enogh time
to do it. The tytle of the book makes me more interested.
Anyway, the quotation I picked has a lot of comparisons. I do not know why the author put
so many quotations. Well.. I really think I should read the book to understand the meaning
of my favorite quotation.
