(A: Akiko, P: Patrick)
P: Akiko, what are you reading?
A: I'm reading about Northern Ireland in the guidebook. Did you know that their stamps and phone cards and money are all different?
P: But there's no passport control when you're crossing the border, you know. In many ways, it's like the same country.
A: I wish you could come with me.
P: I know – I'm just too busy at work. The Celtic Tiger is after me.
A: (うん? ケルティックタイガーって何だろう??) The Celtic Tiger...oh, you mean Ireland's economy is growing so fast?
P: Yeah, especially in IT, it's pretty much non-stop.
A: (そっかあ。パトリックは忙しそうで残念だな。北アイルランドへの小旅行、エステラと一緒に楽しんでこよう)
(A: Akiko, P: Patrick, N: Narrator)
N: Akiko and her French friend from school, Estelle, spend a wonderful two days in Northern Ireland. Patrick had to another part of Ireland, and he calls Akiko to hear all about her trip.
A: We'll leave early on Friday morning. And then we'll spend 2 days in a town called, um...Portrush.
P: Oh, Seamus went there last summer- he said there's a great castle near the cliff of the Antrim Coast – and then there's the Giant's...
A: ...Causeway, yes the Giant's Causeway... It's one of Ireland's three world heritage sites.
P: I think you'll love it. There's a nice cliff top path along the coast. The view from up there is really magnificent! Bring your good waterproof jumper.
A: I can't wait!
N: Patrick calls Akiko while she's in Northern Ireland.
P(PHONE): So, how's the trip so far?
A(PHONE): The tour guide said "We've been blessed by the weather". The Giant's Causeway was so dramatic! There was a great view from the cliff path – it was very exciting!
P(PHONE): Did you get to see a whiskey distillery in Bushmills?
A(PHONE): Oh, that was wonderful, too. They said that it was the oldest one in the world. I tasted 3 kinds of whiskey – and of course, the Irish whiskey was the best! (アイリッシュウィスキーの甘い香り、大好きなんだよね)
P(PHONE): Well, I bet that was the high point.
A(PHONE): And at the end I wanted a drink with no alcohol. So I had a hot toddy with cinnamon and cloves...and I learned how to make it too.
P(PHONE): Now that's really dangerous.
