(A: Akiko, S: Seamus, N: Narrator)
N: It's a beautiful, rainy day in Dublin. Seamus is taking Akiko on a trip to one of the famous botanical gardens near Dublin.
A: I just looked out: it's raining, but no one is using an umbrella!
S: It's soft, isn't it? This is typical Irish weather - what we call a shower - it won't last too long.
A: So the air is never dry here.
A / S: And that's why Ireland is so green (laughing).
A: (へえ、このシャワーのおかげでアイルランドはいつも綺麗な緑に囲まれているんだ)
S: Are you ready to go?
A: Yes, I am.
S: Then we're off to the botanical garden.
(A: Akiko, S: Seamus)
A: I have never seen such a green place!
S: It's one of the best places I know.
A: Oh! They are so pretty – and there are so many of them! What plant is that – the red and green are so beautiful!
S: That's winter Erica – or we call it heath. You can find it all over Ireland. I remember playing in the heather when I was a boy.
A: They flowers look like little bells. (可愛い!)Oh, those trees look so green and peaceful! But where are the shamrocks?
S: Ah, this is their dormant period: they'll be out in the spring. Now, that's another place I like. These trees stand around a magic well, from ancient times.
A: You know, when it rains in Tokyo, it's more...sharp. Of course we bring umbrellas so that we don't get wet. But this rain is so...fine...(何ていうか柔らかい霧雨みたいなんだよね)
S: Yes, it is...But the rain in Ireland isn't only good for people and plants, you know.
A: Really?
S: Really – and if you look over there, you'll see the treasure of an Irish rain.
A: Oh, what a gorgeous rainbow!
