さてアメリカからもんて来て、もう二ヶ月が経ちました。

二ヶ月おって、少しも進んでいないことがあります。

そう、それは部屋の片付けです。

僕のいない間に、僕のクローゼットには色々物が入っており、「んー君はどっからきたん？」って聞きたくなるような物が、毎日おはようと、クローゼットを開けるたびに言うてくれます。

下着やＴシャツを入れていた棚もなくなっており、ソファの上に積み重ねた状態が続いておったんですが、

さすがにこれはいかんと、今日近いうちに新しい収納ボックスを買おうと下見に行ってきました。明日仕事に行く前に買いに行く予定です。

片づけを出来ないもう一つの理由というと、

片づけを始めると、懐かしいものを見つけるたびに思い出にひたってしまい、片づけが一方に進まないんですよね。

こないだなんて、初めて英語で書いた作文を見つけ、笑ってしまいました。

捨てずに置いてはあるんですけどね。

昨日は夢で母親が、"Hurry up and clean up!! Otherwise I won't make you dinner! blah blah blah..."と英語を喋ってる夢をみてしまったので、片付けせないかんとは分かってるはずなんやけど。

Sigh....

さぁ少しは片付けよう。

It's funny that whenever I decide a title for an entry, I always think, "Man, this is not even a sentence."

Anyway,

I am appreciating this cool weather at night. It's still hot in the afternoon but is much better than before!! I was sweating all the time.

Because the class I am taking this semester has begun, the cool weather at late night pretty much keeps me awake and makes me want to read books and study until around 3 o'clock in the morning.

I know I'd better go to bed as soon as I come back home from work, but I can't.

I have to enjoy this cool quiet night nobody disturbs.

I just watched a 1971 film "Melody." That was such a great movie; it has become my another favorite film.

Well my dog is barking, I'd better catch him and maybe go for a short walk.

さて、Trainという単語を見たり聞いたりして思いつく乗り物といえば、なんでしょうか。

そう、電車と答える人がたくさんいるでしょう。

しかし！

我が故郷、徳島ではまだ汽車が走っています。

なので、日本語訳をするときに、汽車と電車、どちらを書けばええんか正直悩んでしまいます。

今夜も生徒に、「なぁー先生、汽車と電車、どっちがええんえ？」と聞かれ、

悩んだ末、「まぁ徳島じゃけん汽車でええんでないかなぁ。」と答えると、

すかさず他の先生から、「電車でお願いします。」といわれてしまいました。

んー確かにそうかもしれんけど、徳島県の高校を受験するなら、徳島県の試験官員さんなら、汽車でもＯＫかなぁーとさっきまで考えていました。

皆さんならどっちを書きます？

Summer is almost at end.

No more AC.

No more ice creams (Of course I am kidding. Ice creams are around all seasons).

No more mosquitoes.

No more sticky skin.

No more beach.

No more swimming suits.

No more fireworks (well I like doing fireworks in winter too).

No more...No more...No more...

I don't even know how much stuff I would miss once summer is officially over.

It's time for summer to go somewhere else and be the king of the hot weather again.

It's time for fall, a season of delicious food, to take us over.

Fall is almost there.

When Dave, our new ALT, and I were talking last week,

he said something like this: "One person you come across could entirely change your life."

Who do I have?

As I have written here before, my life, especially in terms of learning English and living abroad, has been affected by a few of the most powerfully influencing people you probably could meet in your life.

When Dave said that, I was really, yes REALLY, amazed. Well, his words just have me kept on thinking what if I were the one who changed somebody else's life in a good way?

Have I ever had the power to influence somebody's life? I know not.

But one thing I want to say is that people you unawarely have saved before will remember that you are the one who changed their lives--changed the ways they thought they'd live with.

Today's entry is not about me talking about life lessons but is about the reason that I love this globally spoken language - English.

When I speak in Japanese, I sometimes cannot find any good words to express what I am thinking and feeling. But I can in English.

Have you ever had this kind of experience?

It is so much easier in English than in Japanese to say precisely how I feel.

Who could say, "One person you come across could entirely change your life" to a person whom you just met a couple hours ago?

I can't!

Yet I think that English enables us to expand our horizons and to explore the world by letting our thoughts fly like free birds that know exactly where to go.

Since coming back to Japan, I have once feared that I would lose my English, but I was wrong.

Having seen other parts of the world and learned a new language that is very useful to express my feelings now helps me see the world and people in a totally different way.

This experience has been keeping me excited because now I feel that I have finally befriended with English.

最近ようやくチョークを握って教えさせてもらえるようになってきました。

生徒の前に立って、教科書の本文の音読をしたり、英語を喋る機会が増えてうれしく思ってます。

さて、今回はチョークのお話。（前にもしたかも？）

肌が弱いので、毎晩授業が終る頃にはもう手はカサカサ。ケラチラミンのお世話になってます。

アメリカの大学でしか授業を受けたことがないので、他の国のことは分かりませんが、

日本とアメリカの学校の先生の黒板の使い方には違いがあります。

アメリカのドラマなどで学校の教室にある黒板を見たことのある方は、日本の教室の黒板に比べて、何かの違いに気づいたこともあるんではないでしょうか。

日本の先生方は様々な色のチョークを巧みに使って、何が大事とか、どうでもええこととか、絶対に覚える必要があるもの、とかで赤やら黄色などとチョークの色を変えるのを思い浮かべれます。

今晩も授業を見てて、そういえば、っと気がついたんです。

僕がアメリカに初めて行った際のカルチャーショックの一つに、授業の何が重要で、何が重要でないのか、というのが黒板を見ても分からない、というものがありました。

大して大事なものでなくても、赤で書いたり、黄色で書いたりするので、

本当に最初は戸惑いました。

三年もそんな授業を受けていれば、そういう黒板にも慣れてしまい、

高校の頃は色鮮やかだった僕のノートも、今では鉛筆かペンの黒色のみとなってしまいました。

なんか寂しいなぁーと、僕が自宅で教えている英語の授業のノートを見る度に思ってしまいます。

今週の水曜日に、地元の小学校へ英語の授業のボランティアへ行ってきました。

いやぁー楽しかったです。久しぶりに長い間英語でもしゃべれたしね。

ＡＬＴの先生も一ヶ月くらい前に新しくやってきたそうで、水曜日に初めて会いました。

職員室から出てくる所を見かけ、「この人が新しい先生やろか。」と思っていたら、

「おはようございます。」と綺麗な日本語で挨拶してくれました。自己紹介は職員室に入ってからしたんですが、第一印象は、「ひっさしぶりに見た背の大きい方」でした（笑）

イギリスからきたデイヴ先生は２３歳。歳も近いので、昼休みや休み時間に二人でずーっと話をしてました。

英語の授業は、４５分ずつ五、六年生の子達と一緒に自己紹介、歌やボディじゃんけんなど、子供がただ聞いているだけでなく、ちゃんと参加できるものでした。

地元の小学校なので、知っている子もたくさんいて、そういった子は僕と英語で話すのはちょっと恥ずかしそうでしたけど、授業が終る頃にはちゃんと英語でしゃべってくれました。

九月は運動会の練習もあるそうで、もう今週だけですが、１０月にまた再開するそうです。

あぁー楽しみ！

Sorry I hadn't updated for a while. A past week was a really hectic one.

I barely used my laptop, which I can't believe. Wow never thought that would happen.

Anyway the summer vacation for local kids here is officially over, so is my three-month vacation .

My professional writing class is going to start on Monday next week. I am afraid that I might have lost some of my writing skills, but hopefully I'll be fine right away.

I use facebook and AIM to keep in touch with my friends. They seem pretty excited for the new semester. I wish I were there with them, but I am studying from here as well, so it's the same situation. I just don't have as many classes as they do.
