For St.Valentine's Day and coming White Daｙ

I changed the design of my Japanese blog. I chose a chocolate photo for sweet February and March having St. Valentine's Day and White day. St.Valentine's "festival" is over. My daughters really enjoyed exchanging chocolates made by themselves. The next month we have "White Day" in Japan. Will they exchange chocolates and goodies among their friends too?

I mainly write in my English diary on Twitter now. I've started it since last August. I wrote my 500th entry on January 27th. It said: I haven't updated my English blog in EigoTown for so long... ---and mumbled why I didn't write in this blog often. That's because I can't edit my links or change the design by myself. I really LOVE customizing my web sites and blogs!! But I decided not to abandon this blog. I've quit hesitatig my poor compositions; even though I can't write a constructive essay now, it's clear that writing English as often as possible is important. I'll change the icon and background of my Twitter in the near future... Twitter is one thing, this blog is quite another!!!

My First TOEIC SW Test

I took my first TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test for the first time yesterday. I bought the exercise book for that test last month, but I started to do it from January 1st. It was full of extremely tough exercises, especially in speaking section, I got a kind of depressed after doing a couple of exercises. I'm not sure how well I did on the actual test, but I did the best I could.

Children sometimes want two things at once...it seems a little selfish for parents, but they are quite sincere. My younger daughter got completely fascinated with this game at the first time she watched its ad on TV. Even though she had claimed it for her birthday present, she was so upset until she got Inazuma Eleven's latest software. I know she's really into it as deeply as she watches it on Wednesday evenings, she also records every episode of it on video equipment in case she misses it. My son wondered which to buy last month, and picked "Mag-kid" first. But it was after getting it that he realized he had wanted Meteos more....and regretted and regretted, mumbled and mumbled....until I got it to him at second hand. Of course I'm planning to auction his DS softwares he is less interested in now :( I'm trying hard to catch my children's non-verbal feelings, and often think their purchasing actions have subliminal messages.

I've been suffering from chronicle cough for over three weeks. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed as cough-variant asthma. I'm relieved that I had not got swine flu anyway. But I must keep on taking care not to catch it.

Two weeks ago, my younger daughter's elementary school was partially closed due to H1N1 swine flu. At that time, maximum two classes were closed and the band practice were suspended for about a week. About half a month ago, my daughter's elementary school purchased one bottled Cleverin gel for each classroom, and two air purifiers from the school budget. Partial suspension of my younger daughter's school finished on September 10th, but all students still have been required to wear masks in school time and commuting time. But H1N1 flu attack was not over. Now my son's and older daughter's junior high school is hit by swine flu from yesterday and today it's completely closed until Friday. My son and older daughter have NO classes this week and have to stay at home all week...... I've been suffering from cough for over three weeks, I must go to the doctor.

断酒 | A Farewell to Alcohol

Today, I was told by my councelor that I should avoid drinking alcohol forever. This made me so lonely and even feel empty. I'm not an alcohol addict now, in fact, I've been on the wagon for almost six months. But it's not enough, she said, since alcohol addiction hits us suddenly when we have a terribly shocking experience or a loss of our loved one. Being fond of sake itself is a crucial factor in alcohol addiction. During my pregnancy I didn't feel like drinking. I didn't drink at all while I breastfed my children. All of my family members rarely drink at home, and I like drinking outside better with my friends than at home, which are a kind of party or celebration held just a few times a year. But what my councelor suggested me is abstinence from alcohol, in order not to become alcohol addict when I got terribly desperate. I've been able to tolerate a dry life so far dreaming that someday I can enjoy "parties" with my friends over sake again, but suppose the days without any alcohol will last forever...how will I enjoy "dry" parties from now on??? I've had lots and lots of memories with friends and sake... I've become fearful that I would not have good times with my friends who like sake anymore, and said to her, "I don't think I can enjoy myself in people who know I like sake anymore, I'd rather get out of my current community to meet "new" friends to heal my sorrow and emptiness." "Changing communities is a necessary price to pay for obtaining complete abstinence from alcohol," was her reply. I realized how isolated my friends who hate alcohol feel at parties when I heard her words. Do I have to feel this isolation forever in parties with alcohol forever? I know that nobody will kick me out of parties actually, but I feel that lonely and empty.

Why have I written in this blog less often recently? That's because I have so many other blogs in Japanese? Well......that's partly right, I do have some topics which I NEED TO write in Japanese. I want to cherish my other Japnaese blogs for friends and readers who are not interested in learning English. Even though I love English, I (my brain, actually) sometimes become tired of learning it if I'm involved in it for such a long time, especially the type of vocabulary and grammar. In fact, I haven't been able to write about current news or world affairs in English yet, that makes me reluctant sometimes to write my English entries. But the main reason I think is that I feel difficulty in expressing my feelings only in writing. I tend to attach photos and videos in my entries to inspire myself when writing a diary entry, so I take so much time to pick up photos for my entries, and during that time my inspiration fades little by little and at last I don't care about my English entries so much!!! I must correct this bad habit!! I have to do that to improve my English more, and resolved to write more than fifty sentences a week on my Twitter from today. Guess how many times I tweet in English until next week!!
