Hana is eating and slepping well now. We had a big concern over her diet,
but it seems she is doing just fine asx a new-born baby. Antonela is enveloping a birth
announcement. We ordered 75. I (Takeo) has a guest from India this week.
Dr. Kaul and his wife just had a baby two months ago.

朝日が昇った頃、
ようやく子供病棟に通され、
７時から医師の診断。
点滴を打ち始めてからおよそ７時間、
ハナの体調が良くなってきているのが分かる。
日は既に変って土曜日。
アントネラも自分も少し疲れ気味。
優しい感じの医師によると
２時間に１度はほ乳瓶でミルクをあげて、
おむつの状況をしっかり観察記録するようにとのこと。
夜までには体調が戻るでしょうとのこと。
血液検査の結果も、
尿検査も心臓の検査も
特に問題なしと伝えられる。
一安心。

日本でも緊急入院なんてしたことないので
くらべようがないのですが、
ここアメリカの場合は、
しっかりと受付で登録、
保険の有無や職場の詳細などを聞かれ、
待合室で待つこと30分。
ようやく部屋に通されたと思ったら、
同じような質問がまた看護婦さんから。
さらにまたされること1時間。
ようやく医師が現れたと思ったら、
同じような質問とハナの体調に関する質問。
簡単に問診を済ませ、
「それでは検査しましょう・・・」
とのこと。
検査まで待つこと１時間半。
結果に１時間。
医師を待つこと１時間。
「軽い脱水症状です」
といわれるまでの時間が
なんと８時間。
さらに入院が必要なので・・・
ということでまつこと２時間。
結局入院病棟に入り
落ち着くまでに１２時間。
朝日が既にのぼるころでした。

金曜日の午後、
仕事を少し早く切り上げて帰宅してみると、
アントネラが「ハナの様子が少しおかしい」とのこと。
色々と聞いてみると、
「朝からうんちもおしっこもしていない」だとか。
なんだ・・・そんなことかと思っていたところ・・・・
ハナの様子を見てみると、
反応も鈍く、さらには朝からずっと寝っぱなし。
体調でも崩したのかと思い、
すぐに病院へ。
病院へついたのは夜の7時。
もちろんＥＲへ。

3:35am Here we go again...Hana is fully awake. Antonela changed her diaper and is breastfeeding here now. Well, this is not that bad....indeed, we just need to wake up to take care of her at 3am
everyday. (Takeo)
She is doing great. We will get some sleep after this. (Antonela)

This is Hana's first week birthday! It just applies to us, but she looks bigger than a week ago.
We think she is. She eats alot and sleeps alot. Antonela is a bit suffering from breastfeeding, but it seems it is much easier for both of them than days ago.

2'35am Antonela just finished breastfeeding Hana, and Hana is sleeping.
2'53am Hana peed on our bed....well done.
Yesterday we bought a baby bed mattress. ($80) Karen came and saw her in te late afternoon.
We cooked sirloin steak for lunch, and I fell asleep in the evening....woke up at 2am. I watered
the garden in the morning.

2:47am Antonela is breastfeeding Hana, or at least trying to do it. We now understand what she wants from the way she cries. And she learned how to cry VERY loud. (Takeo)

Saturday, June 2
10:30am Neso and Jelena came and see us.
6:15pm Doubrava's came and see us.
Hana was doing great. She met dozen set of friends. Danijela cooked salmons and potatoes, and they were great. Our first real meal since I came back from Asia. I changed diapers three times
and am very proud of myself. Jelena and Neso came and see her in the morning. It sounds funny
to me, but their daughter and Hana are in the same class. Oh, I went to Sam's club at 9:30am...and I was so sleepy. Also I mowed the yard and watered our vegitable garden in the early morning. I am
not sure if this is still due to a jet lag, or baby-lag. (Takeo)

Friday, June 1
We left hospital around noon. Hana was sitting in her special child seat with Antonela. We came
home and found out she pooped already. Of course we could not sleep well. Antonela and Hana are
learning about breastfeedng each other. It is very fine day with crystal clear sky.

Thursday, May 31
Hana is doing great. She is tiny but doctors and nurses told us she is a well baby, which means we
can go home altogether tomorrow afternoon, after 48 hours she was born.

Wednesday, May 30
Antonela and Hana are doing great. Antonela suffers from pains she got from the deliverly. I had my hair cut in the morning. Hana has a lot of hairs, and will soon need one as well.

Tuesday, May 29
12;35pm, Hana was born. Antonela pushed only 25 times in about 30 minutes. Here she goes!!

日本での出産経験や入院経験がないので比べようがないのですが、
2泊3日の滞在中のケアの厚さには驚かされました。
8時間交代でのマンツーマンの看護婦さんのお世話、
母乳のレッスンを専門に教える看護婦さんのマンツーマンレッスン。
出産時には何から何までのお世話で6人もの看護婦さんが待機。
入院中の料理も
様々な牛乳の種類、ジュースの種類から
食事は15種類の中から選べ、
サイドデイッシュにいたっては50種類ほどから。
2時間に1度は冷たいお水とジュースを家族分も含めて届けに来てくれたりと。
さらにはハナの入浴を担当した看護婦さんなどは
洗髪の後にかわいいリボンを頭につけて返してくれたり。
細かい出生届から住所登録までも病院がやってくれます。
さらにはカーシートがしっかりついているかの点検。
何から何まで200点満点の体験でした。

I am at the docotr for the first time in last 5 years, and for the first time in the US
Nothing serious, as I was coghing badly over weeks, antonela made this appointment.
I was expecting smalller office than this, but I guess this is not. My insurance covers well enogh for doctors visit, and all I need to pay is 20 dollars for this visit.
I just do not like this negative feeling at any hospital.....well, expect the one where Hana was born. That hospital had full of positive atmosphere and we had a great impression.
Things are moving little by little, and this effort toward globalizing the campus will bear fruits in a few years. A few universities want to send their students in group in summer, and we will be able to send our studnets to asian countries for summer short term program.

My office needs to be better organized.

I am going to Eureaka Springs tomorrow with Dr Beran. The conference on education and business will be held there.

Hana is doing great, and I think she really gained dome weight in last 7 days. It is amazing to see how fast she can get bigger. She sleeps and eats very well.

I need to submit papers to japanese government so that she can get a japanese citizenship if she wants to. I hope these paper work will be much easier thab our marriage paperwork.

It is getting hotter and hotter. It was almost 35c this afternoon. Antonela and I talked about this, but hana's may birth was better than winter delivery. We are not sure if we could handle the cold weather as we do for this warm/hot weather.

My doctor is belgium born/american citizen. He went to school here and got the citizenship. His wife is korean, adopted when she was small. The kids look like european-asian mixed. I wonder how Hana will look alike in the future.

I am hungry.....I hope I will have enough time to eat before the meeting at 130.

命名！「一花（はな）・カタリーナ・鈴木」
一花（はな）は一番美しく輝く花になって欲しいという願いから、
カタリーナハはアントネラの出身地の有名なクイーンの名前で、
日本でも話題になったドブロニックの城主だったクイーンから。
名前負けしないような、
強く美しい女性に育ってくれますように。

月曜日の夜6時に東京からアメリカに帰ってきて、
アントネラとともに10時に病院へ。
そのまま一夜を過ごし、
午後12時半にははながうまれ・・・。
時差ぼけと色々とが重なって
今日の午後は爆睡してしまいました。
