Always a favorite at parties. Lately I've been breakfasting on it, as part of a serotonin-friendly diet.
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix ¾ cup sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/3 cup red wine vinegar, and 1 tsp dry ground mustard. Heat long enough to dissolve sugar. Cool. Add ½ cup onion, ½ cup oil, 1 tsp poppy seeds. Chill overnight.
Toss 10 oz spinach and 1 pint strawberries with dressing. Add ½ cup toasted sliced almonds just before serving.
